Job Summary

Fit is assisting a law firm in Birmingham with their search for a Litigation Legal Secretary to join their growing team.  Applicants’ primary duty is to help organize the data behind legal proceedings. A minimum of 5 years of litigation experience in required. Salary is in the $50K range, depending on experience, plus competitive benefits.  


Job Description

  • Maintain records of client files, including opening and closing of files
  • Edit, format, print and revise all letters, memos, reports, forms, labels and other printed material
  • Maintain daily appointment calendar, book meetings, make travel arrangements, as required
  • Open and close client files
  • Facilitate meetings of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and provide timely reminders to attorney
  • Entering of attorneys’ time for timesheets and billing purposes
  • Keeping files organized and current
  • Answer phone calls, take notes, messages and redirect calls when appropriate
  • Perform other administrative duties, as assigned


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Word required
  • Ability to work with legal technology; i.e. court filings, computer systems, transcription software
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations and court systems required
