Area District Manager, Construction Engineer Full-Time

Job Summary

Fit is assisting an engineering firm in Louisville, KY with their search for an Area District Manager responsible for planning, coordinating through supervision of personnel, activities concerned with construction of structures, facilities, and systems for water, wastewater, and industrial clients. The Area District Manager will participate in the development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implantation to ensure that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Pay is in the $100K+ range with competitive benefits.

Job Description

  • Collaborate with supervisory personnel, owners, design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, or vendors to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, construction schedules, or construction quality

  • Implement new or modified construction schedules in response to delays, bad weather, or construction site issues

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction project activities to meet deadlines

  • Prepare and submit estimates of construction progress, progress reports, or cost tracking reports

  • Prepare contracts or negotiate revisions to contractual agreements with clients, subcontractors or vendors

  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with internal safety, quality and productivity requirements or other external regulations

  • Investigate delays at construction sites to ensure that proper construction procedures are being following

  • Apply for and obtain all necessary permits or licenses

  • Direct and supervise construction project personnel

  • Oversee the requisition supplies or materials to complete construction projects

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Extensive experience with Primavera P6 or similar
  • Must have at least 10 hours of OSHA 
  • E.I.T. preferred
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, database software, project management software, and spreadsheet software
  • Understanding of soil mechanics, concrete formwork, concrete placing and finishing and steel reinforcement, and all associated electrical and control equipment associated with water and wastewater projects
  • Must be well versed in construction law, various local ordinances for each state in their territory and all facets of local permit requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of a project (from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public): reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Travel is required: travel required varies but could be as much as 3 to 4 days per week, 2 to 3 weeks per month
